Eri is called Ahimsa Silk because the caterpillar spins an open cocoon, from which the moth flies away before the cocoon is harvested to make silk.
Thus it is naturally ahimsa.
It is an amazing fabric which feels like light airy cotton, but has the subtle sheen of wild silk.
You can wear Eri Silk even in summer.
