Meenakari kadua saree from Banaras in pure katan silk.
The meenakari technique uses supplementary weft resham (silk) threads to add coloured motifs/highlights. It is not embroidery. It is done at the time of weaving, making it a highly skilled process.
Meenakari work can be done in kadua or cutwork, but this is a kadua saree, with each butti finished individually and no hanging threads. Please see the close-up photo of the reverse of the saree.
